Aims

The Challenge:

We must promote sustainable environment through all our actions.

Priorities:

Prepare and implement a Local Development framework (previously known as 'Local Plan'), which promotes beneficial development while minimising the impact on finite resources and on the natural and built environment.
To work with rural communities to protect and promote villages and the countryside as places to live, work, visit and enjoy.
To work towards improving the environmental and visual quality of the area.
To reduce waste and increase re-cycling.
To reduce dependence on the car and improve access to public and community transport for all people.
To make prudent use of natural resources.
Minimise the risk of flooding in existing areas and as new development takes place.
To reduce noise pollution.
